Hello, and welcome

This is the first post on Clearing the Air, the Spoores blog. Before we get into what we’ll be writing about, it’s worth saying plainly who we are, because “smart,” “connected,” and “IoT” get thrown around so often they’ve nearly stopped meaning anything.

Spoores is an end-to-end IoT platform: connected devices, a secure cloud, and one app that ties them together. We design the hardware, write the software, and run the infrastructure so that monitoring, control, and asset tracking actually just work for the spaces and the things that matter most to you.

Why “Clearing the Air”

The name does double duty, and we like it for both reasons.

To clear the air is to cut through confusion and say what’s really going on. That’s the promise of this blog: straightforward writing about connected technology, and honest takes on what actually matters.

There’s a literal wink in it too. Our name comes from spores, the microscopic stuff that rides the air in damp, neglected spaces. Air quality and moisture are part of our story, and they’ll show up here from time to time. But they’re one thread, not the whole cloth.

Where we started

Every platform begins somewhere. We began with water.

Our first two devices catch leaks early and stop water damage before it starts: spooresLEAK, a wireless leak sensor, and spooresVALVE, an automatic shutoff valve. We knew that problem firsthand, and it was a good way to prove out the platform end to end, with real sensors, real-time alerts, and real control, all from one app.

That’s our starting line. It isn’t our finish line.

Where we’re going

Sensing, connecting, monitoring, controlling, and tracking reach far beyond a single leak under a sink. Spoores is built to keep an eye on:

• Homes and properties: water, climate, and the everyday risks that turn into expensive surprises.
• Commercial and industrial sites: many sensors, many locations, one dashboard.
• The assets you move and love: equipment, golf carts, boats, and RVs, with location and movement at your fingertips whether they’re parked, stored, or out on the road.

The signals worth watching go well beyond temperature and humidity. Voltage and current, speed and GPS position, open or closed, on or off: if it can be measured, Spoores can help you monitor it, and often control it too.

Some posts will be short and practical. Some will go deep. All of them aim to be honest and straightforward.
